Maca & Matcha Date Balls ( Paleo, Vegan, GF, DF)

Date Balls have become such a popular healthy snack. Which is no surprise, they are so easy to make, taste amazing and are easy to pack in your handbag. I added a little energy to this recipe with Maca and Matcha powder.

Maca & Matcha Date Balls

If you find yourself feeling sluggish and sleepy mid morning or afternoon, try adding a nutritious snack for a boost of energy. Dates are a great alternative to snacks full of refined sugar and additives. Not only are they naturally sweet to curb cravings, they also are packed full of nutrients and fibre. Fibre is essential for good digestion and a healthy gut, helping those with IBS.

Both Maca and Matcha powder are nutrient power houses! They are packed full of nutrients, antioxidants and Maca & Matcha date balls - vegan, paleo, gluten free, dairy free | an energy boost. You can learn more about the benefits of maca powder in this recipe post.

Added benefits of Matcha are; it boosts metabolism meaning it can help aid weight loss, speeds up recovery after high intensity exercise and reverses cellular damage. Matcha has also been shown to prevent cancer and lower the risks of type 2 diabetes and heart disease. If you aren’t sold on the benefits alone, you will be when you try them.



You can see how these are the perfect pre/post workout snack due to the multiple health benefits they hold. The ingredients also provide your body with protein, carbs and fat to fuel your body before or after your workout.

Ideally you can make a batch and store them in the fridge for the week, this way you are never stuck for a snack. Alternatively you could freeze some and defrost as and when you need.

Maca Matcha Date Balls

Paleo, Vegan, GF, DF

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes

  • 200 grams Medjool Dates
  • 100 grams Ground Almonds
  • 1 tbsp Maca Powder adjust to your tastebuds
  • 1 tbsp Matcha Powder adjust to your tastebuds
  • 1 tbsp Coconut Oil


  1. Put all ingredients except for maca and matcha powder into your food processor

  2. Blend on high until a dough forms

  3. Seperate mixture, and place half in a bowl to one side

  4. Add 1 tbsp of maca into blender with the remaining mix and blend until combined. Remove and put in a bowl to the side

  5. Next take the other half of the mixture and add back to the blender with 1 tbsp Matcha powder and blend until combined

  6. Now using a tsp or tbsp form equal amounts into balls

  7. Once finished store in the fridge

N.B. If you want to only use Maca or Matcha use 2 tbsp with the whole mixture
